12. Coaches' Responsibility

The coach from each team shall supply one (1) ADULT linesman for each game. The coach is to introduce himself/herself to the referee. The winning coach will call in the score to the Division Chairperson or designee. In case of a tie, the home team coach shall call in the scores. A coach will assign a captain(s) for the toss of a coin. Coaches may have two (2) assistants.

COACHES, PARENTS, AND PLAYERS MUST BEHAVE IN A SPORTSMANLIKE MANNER AT ALL TIMES. FAILURE TO COMPLY MAY RESULT IN A FORFEITURE OF THE GAME.

Coaches must ensure that all players play at least 50% of each game, provided that the player has attended practices regularly and is not being disciplined or considered physically dangerous by the coach. If for any reason, disciplinary or injury, a coach elects not to play a player for at least half a game, he/she must notify the specific player, player's parents and the referee prior to the game. The referee will then notify the opposing coach. Failure of the coach to notify the referee may result in forfeiture. In the Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and the First Grade Division, one coach per team is allowed on the field during play.

THE COACH ON THE FIELD MUST REMAIN BETWEEN THE PENALTY AREAS AT ALL TIMES. NO COACHING OR PARENTAL INSTRUCTING IS PERMITTED PAST THE PENALTY AREA OR BEHIND THE GOAL NETS.

IF NO REFEREE APPEARS, COACHES SHALL DESIGNATE A PERSON TO REFEREE OR REFEREE THE GAME THEMSELVES. FAILURE OF THE REFEREE TO APPEAR SHALL NOT BE GROUNDS FOR DELAY OR POSTPONEMENT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A PLAYOFF GAME WHERE AN AUTHORIZED REFEREE MUST BE PRESENT. THE CHAIRPERSON WILL SCORE BOTH TEAMS WITH A SCORE OF "3" IN ALL SPORTSMANSHIP CATEGORIES.

The winning coaches must call the Division Chairperson with final outcome (scoring) of the game, the same day the game has been played. All coaches must mail the "Referee Evaluation Cards" to the Evaluation Chairperson. Failure to comply will result in loss of sportsmanship point (one [1] point for every card not received). Any coach who does not return at least five (5) "Referee Evaluation Cards" will automatically be eliminated from receiving the Division's Team Sportsmanship Award and the Coach's Michael P. Cummings President's Award.

THERE IS NO SMOKING, AT ANY TIME, ON ANY FIELD USED BY THE NYCSL.
